The Office of Information Systems (OIS) is pleased to announce the recommissioning of RPL 326 in the RPL Technology Center to a small group conference room and eGlass studio. It is for faculty and staff use only and is reservable in AdAstra by contacting the Office of Events.
The room has been equipped with a Cisco Webex Room Kit Mini on a Samsung 65” Flip2 interactive display. The Flip2 provides small group on-premise conferencing for up to 6 in the room, and the Webex Room Kit Mini allows for collaborating with many other remote participants. You can find more information on the Cisco/Samsung partnership at: https://displaysolutions.samsung.com/pdf/brochure/4066/Samsung-Webex-on-Flip_Brochure_Final_200211_web.pdf
Also, this room has a 50” Hovercam eGlass (https://eglass.io/) installed on an active sit/stand desk to be used as a recording studio for asynchronous content development. eGlass is a glass whiteboard that automatically flips the image the camera sees and presents your content for readability to maintain the aspect of face-to-face student engagement. They see your face while you write, not the back of your head, yet they can still read what you are writing. You can record using Kaltura Capture so that you can easily publish the recording from your My Media repository to your course in Blackboard. Theoretically, you could even use this with Webex to do remote teaching in a synchronous manner.
If you are interested in either of these technologies for your departments, please contact the Campus Support Center at campussupport@atu.edu, and we will be happy to discuss them with you.
