Tax Form Security Reminder

With tax time coming up many people may be considering emailing their tax information (W2, 1099) to their parents or accountants. Please remember that emails are sent in clear text and can be read by anyone who may intercept this traffic.

Best Practices for sending sensitive data:
– Be sure you are sending to the correct email address (the intended recipient).
– Password Protect or Encrypt the file before sending.
– Send the Password or Decryption Key in a separate email or call the recipient to share this information.
– Double check everything before sending.

Once sent, emails are next to impossible to retrieve.
