It has been brought to the attention of the University by the State Cybersecurity Office that there is a current phone scam involving state agencies. The caller will identify himself as being “your printer provider” and will then ask for a serial number or public IP address for the printer. This information could provide a point of entry into the network to allow for intrusion or attack. Please verify that any information that is given out is done so to the correct vendor representative or appropriate OIS staff. Don’t be afraid to ask questions of the caller when this type of call comes to you and notify Campus Support Center staff (968-0646), if you get this call.
