Microsoft will stop supporting the Windows 7 operating system on January 14, 2020. This end of support means that we will no longer receive security updates, software updates, and technical support. Any computer running Windows 7 after the end of support date will become vulnerable to cybersecurity attacks. The Office of Information Systems (OIS) will no longer be able to support computers running Windows 7. Any computer still running Windows 7 after this date will be blocked from network resources.
The good news is that OIS has upgraded 90% of the computers on campus to Windows 10. Support Services team members will be reaching out to users and departments to schedule the upgrade of the remaining desktop systems. Any faculty and staff member who has Windows 7 on a laptop or tablet will need to contact Campus Support to arrange a time to upgrade their system.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation as we continue to safeguard our universities technological environment. Please contact Campus Support at 968-0646 or email campussupport@atu.edu if you have any questions.
