Currently, the Kaltura Capture Suite is operational and ready for you to create new videos. There are three tools available for you to use.
Express Capture – record directly from your web browser w/o additional software. Available through the video portal or the Blackboard Learn integration.
Kaltura Capture – record from a PC or Mac w/o complex setup or a lengthy learning curve. Being installed on all faculty/staff machines, or you can download it yourself. Also available through the video portal or the Blackboard Learn integration.
Classroom Capture – record your face-to-face class in a lecture capture enabled room. By the time classes start 20 rooms will have been updated from their old system. These include: COR 268, CRA 221 & 310, DNH 103 & 104, all 9 RCB classrooms, RTH 138, 212, 312 & 317, MCE 162, & SSC 133.
Also available for use is the Kaltura Media Space video portal at video.atu.edu. Here you can access the Public Gallery videos from various departments, and upon logging in you can access the tools above, as well as your My Media repository. My Media is where all of your media content is stored. Along with creating new videos, any media content you already have possession of can be uploaded to your My Media folder. This is also where your old Tegrity videos will be migrated to. Note: you have to access the My Media repository from within Blackboard Learn in order to publish media to your courses. This is done in the Tools section in the left side navigation menu, outside of any courses.
In regards to the Tegrity migration, due to circumstances beyond our control, the migration process had been delayed, but is now slated to begin tomorrow. According to information from Kaltura, they anticipate that it will take 2-3 days to complete. Your legacy videos from Tegrity should be ready for publishing by the end of the week.
