Upcoming End of Analog Phone Services on the Russellville Campus

Due to aging hardware systems with the service provider, as of December 2021, Windstream will no longer provide analog telephone services to the Russellville campus.  This will directly impact any department still utilizing Windstream desk phones or having one or more analog fax lines.  Departments that have already been moved to the university’s Unified Communication System (VoIP) should not be impacted beyond changes to how they communicate with the departments that have still been on Windstream.

Due to this change, the Office of Information Systems is actively moving all remaining departments to VoIP before the deadline.  To facilitate this, departments still on Windstream services should have received or will shortly receive a spreadsheet designed to collect information about their current phone services.  This information is necessary as Windstream records are not always completely accurate, and OIS would like to provide as smooth a transition as possible.

We ask that the departments that receive an email from OIS with the spreadsheet complete it as soon as possible and return it.  In the coming weeks, additional emails will be sent to each affected department to discuss available options so that the phone configuration can be custom tailored for the department’s individual needs.
