As many of you already know, in December of 2020 Arkansas Tech University entered into an agreement with Ellucian to migrate the Banner system and its ancillary applications to the Ellucian Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud.
Since that time, the Office of Information Systems has been working diligently with the user community and Ellucian to migrate and verify our systems and applications. OIS sought feedback and testing from faculty, staff, and student groups in the form of user acceptance testing, surveys, and one-on-one working sessions.
In addition to migrating existing systems, we will also be replacing the current OneTech portal with a new modern interface built on Ellucian Experience. This not only allows us to update the look and feel of OneTech, but will also remove our dependency on our current portal framework which is nearing end of life.
While migration efforts continue, we wanted to take this time to share some additional information concerning the migration. Questions or comments can be emailed to cloudmigration@atu.edu.
When will the change over to the cloud hosted system begin?
At the close of business on December 17th, OIS will shut down the systems currently hosted on-site to begin the final migration to the Ellucian AWS cloud. Services will remain unavailable through December 20th when the cloud systems are brought online.
What applications and/or services are being migrated to the cloud?
The following applications and services are being migrated to the Ellucian AWS Cloud:
Banner Database
Argos
FormFusion
Intellecheck
ePrint
DegreeWorks
Banner Application Navigator and Admin Pages
Banner Self-Service Banner
ApplicationXtender
Automic Job Scheduler
Will there be any Banner data that doesn’t get migrated to the cloud?
By stopping services before creating the backup of the Banner database, we mitigate the chances of data changing during the backup. We will provide Ellucian with a full copy of the Banner database to import into the cloud environment.
What is Ellucian Experience, and how will it be different from the current OneTech?
Rather than the static content on the current version of OneTech, Ellucian Experience offers a personalized dashboard approach to display what is relevant to the user. Content is displayed in “Cards” that can be added, moved, or removed from the user’s dashboard.
How can I access Ellucian Experience?
Users can log in at https://experience.elluciancloud.com/atu/auth to preview the Ellucian Experience dashboard. While much of the content is in place, Ellucian Experience is still a work in progress as OIS continues to identify and create content and links to resources. After December 20th, the current https://onetech.atu.edu link will become Ellucian Experience.
