There will be an upcoming network maintenance for the university’s wireless systems and the firewall on Saturday, November 30th, starting at 9:00 am and lasting until 12:00 pm. During this time, there may be periods where new connection attempts to ATU-Wireless fail. This maintenance will allow Network Services to update the security certificates used on the wireless system and apply firewall firmware upgrades. No loss of connectivity is expected for the firewall firmware upgrade, however, there may be periods when new association attempts to ATU-Wireless from wireless devices fail. After the maintenance, some device types may require you to manually re-associate to ATU-Wireless due to the security certificate change. Based on certificate changes in previous years:
- Android devices may reconnect to ATU-Wireless with no issues.
- Apple devices may prompt to accept the new certificate, and it may take several connection attempts to ATU-Wireless to get the prompt to appear. After accepting the new certificate, Apple devices will be able to connect to ATU-Wireless again.
- Windows devices may not automatically reconnect. If they do not, open the wireless view in the taskbar as if you were going to try to connect to a new wireless network. Find ATU-Wireless and choose Connect. It will ask if you expect to see ATU-Wireless and this location and if you’d like to verify the certificate. Viewing the certificate is optional. You can click connect again, and the device should successfully connect.
