There will be two upcoming emergency network maintenance windows for the following areas:
Alumni Building – Wireless
BazTech – Wireless
Hull Student Union – Wireless
M-Street Residence Hall – Wired and Wireless
Nutt Residence Hall – Wired and Wireless
University Commons – Wired and Wireless
RPL/Corley Parking Lots – Wireless
The first maintenance window will be scheduled for Wednesday, August 10th, beginning at 4:00 am and lasting until 8:00 am. The second will be scheduled for Friday, August 12th, beginning at 4:00 am and lasting until 8:00 am.
After the previous update to the newer wireless system this last Sunday, an undocumented bug was discovered that is causing individual wireless units to reboot unexpectedly. The first emergency maintenance will be used to upgrade the wireless system to a higher version to attempt to correct the issue. The system will be monitored closely afterward on Wednesday and Thursday. If the issue persists or new problems arise, the second maintenance window will be used to roll the system back to a previous stable version.
During the maintenance window, wired and/or wireless connectivity will be unavailable while the wireless units upgrade (see above for which will be impacted in which building/areas). Actual connectivity losses are expected to be closer to 20 minutes, but the entire window is reserved.
